Bobby Henderson created the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. In 2005, Henderson sent a letter to the Kansas State Board of Education, which was reviewing whether, in addition to evolution, intelligent design should be taught as part of the public high school science curriculum.
Henderson satirically argued that intelligent design and evolution should both be taught as well as Flying Spaghetti Monsterism (also known as FSM and Pastafarianism). Henderson’s letter became the basis for a parody religion, which mocks traditional religion and the creationist worldview.
