Washington’s famous crossing of the Delaware, a turning point iof the Revolutionary War, took place on Christmas Day, 1776 in Bucks County. The crossing is re-enacted each Christmas.
Doylestown Museums
Victorian Doylestown has a wealth of historic sites. The Mercer Museum, built in 1916 is a National Historic landmark. The museum’s collection gives visitors an overview of what life was like in the days when Americans traveled in covered wagons. The exhibits include tools used in more than 60 early American trades including shoemaker and blacksmith.
